Perry offers a practical, repertoire-based approach to jazz guitar playing and improvisation. His teaching methods have been developed through years of study with a number of jazz guitar greats, including Sal Salvador, a featured soloist with the Stan Kenton Orchestra in the 1950s, Remo Palmier, a legendary guitarist who played with Billie Holiday and Charlie Parker, and Bernard Addison, a guitarist for the Mills Brothers in the 1930s. Additionally, Perry has had lessons and workshops with many other jazz luminaries such as Joe Monk, Lennie Tristano, Barry Harris, Tal Farlow, Gene Bertoncini and Jim Hall.
